Erie and its dryer vents
Erie was settled in 1867 and incorporated in 1874. Its coal miners owned their own land and houses instead of living in temporary camps. The old downtown still has an 1889 brick building, the Miner Memorial dedicated in 2000, and a Town Hall that used to be Lincoln School. Most of the mines closed by 1960.
